Description
Important: Please Read
Casts must be done through a home appointment (additional fees apply) or at our designated location. Before making a purchase, please visit our “Contact Us” page to explore the available options and ensure that you can proceed with the service. For the best results with our Baby Heart Cast, we recommend completing the process over two appointments. In the first session, we take detailed casts of your baby’s feet. Then, after approximately six weeks—once the plaster has fully dried—you’ll return for the second appointment to help position the dried foot casts exactly how you’d like them to appear in the final heart shape. This method reduces the chance of your baby becoming fidgety during the setting process and allows for a more refined and personalised result. We understand that attending two appointments may not always be possible, so we do offer the option to complete everything in one visit. However, please note that when done in a single session, we cannot guarantee the final cast will look exactly as envisioned.
Your Couples Cast
Our handcrafted 3D casts are made using high-quality plaster, and each cast is mounted on a natural wood slice as a standard option. However, if you’d prefer a more customised display, we offer upgrades to premium frames or enhanced mounts for an additional cost. You can decide on the perfect display during your appointment, where you’ll have the opportunity to browse our wide selection of frames, available at varying price points.
How Does It Work?
We begin the casting process by helping you and your party practice the pose you’d like to capture. Once you’re happy with your choice, we mix the casting liquid, and you’ll be asked to place your hands into it. You’ll need to hold the chosen pose for about 10 minutes while the liquid sets completely.
After the mould is formed, we fill it with high-quality plaster. In just a couple of hours, your cast will be ready to be carefully removed from the mould. The casting liquid is extremely safe for children, as it’s primarily made from seaweed and is often used in dental moulds. If there are any concerns about allergies, we can provide a patch test. This can be done either at our location or through a sample kit with instructions for home testing. For accurate results, it’s important to follow the patch test directions exactly.
How Long Does It Take?
The entire casting process takes approximately 20-30 minutes, including preparation and mixing. You’ll only need to keep your hands in the mould for around 10-20 minutes, as the casting liquid begins to set within a few minutes. This allows for a relatively quick and smooth experience, while ensuring a high-quality result.
Can I Order More Than One?
The initial mould is delicate and cannot be reused, as it gets damaged when removing the cast. However, once your plaster cast has dried completely, we can create a silicone mould (at an additional cost). This silicone mould can be used to make multiple copies and is durable enough for future use, including for cold casting. These moulds can be stored for future use and do not need to be used right away.
How Long Does It Take To Get Them?
It typically takes around 8 – 10 weeks to receive the final product. This timeframe ensures that the plaster cast is completely dry, which is crucial for preventing issues like mold growth. The drying process can vary depending on weather conditions, as excess moisture needs to be eliminated to ensure the highest quality and durability of the cast. By waiting this long, the product could last a lifetime.
